it’s actually amazing. Just, do it with a teaspoon instead of the whole fucking glass. that’s how I got to have coffee with my mum as a little boy (I’d only get one spoonful of course, which is probably still way too much for a child).

The bitterness is an acquired taste and part of the flavor profile. I didn’t understand that as a kid and I was one of those people that would indeed add more sugar thinking that it’ll taste better.
